Lithography with its complex methodology is every bit a collabrative effort. We therefore share the making of Lithograph #140 equally, with you the viewer benefitting from our combined years of experience in its making.

Lithographs are produced at Cariboo Stone Press using much of the same technology as the original invention by Aloys Senefelder in 1779. The images are drawn and processed on Bavarian limestone and pulled by hand using a flat-bed press. The following presentation details the entire process of making lithograph #140 'Primal Force'. From the initial wash image to the related drawing of each colour plate, then the chemical process involved in making each a printable image before proofing and printing the edition.
Below my introduction to 'Jock Macdonald' is the daily log which details the methodology involved in making 'Primal Force' plus all the other things an artist must do to remain human.
